Construction One is looking for an experienced estimator to join our team in Columbus, OH. The experienced construction estimator will work on our bigger projects and will help train some of newer estimators, as well as assist in training our assistant project managers. This position is responsible for reviewing proposal specifications, drawings and attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work to be able to produce qualified bid submittals in a timely manner. The Estimator works as part of a team that works together to meet client needs and to help grow the company through quality work.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Creating detailed and accurate cost estimates including scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, quantity, size, configuration, options, etc.
- Assure that the estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project
- Follow up with owner architect and provide additional information as required
- Maintaining current information and lists for subcontractors
- Solicit subcontractor and material bids
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, etc.
- Review successful bids during handoff meeting to Project Managers and superintendents
- Research new products/cost/installation details
- Earn the Confidence of the Owner try to quickly ascertain their requirements for a complete bid
- Find Subcontractors while maintaining and updating Subcontractor information as necessary
- Distribution of plans and specifications
- Addendum processing and notifications
- Maintain record of transactions
- Maintains OSHA Certification and paperwork as needed / required
- Attends meetings, training and professional development as needed / required
- Other duties / projects as assigned

Education/Experience:
- BA in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10 years of estimating experience as a full-time estimator
- Prior experience as a commercial construction estimator with experience in retail, restaurant and ground up construction preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and other documents
- Ability to work well others in a team environment
- Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, evaluate situations, and make timely, accurate decisions
- Organized with strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interface with subcontractors, suppliers and designers while developing a bid as needed
- Knowledge of estimating multiple building/project types
- Maintains a competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards
- Experience in hiring and managing outside contractors
- Computer proficiency in the Windows / Microsoft Office products
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record. if not previously secured, successful completion of OSHA 10 required within 30 days of filling the position
Physical Demands: Routine physical demands for the office environment when working in the office. While performing the duties of this job; employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Operates all computer equipment, copier, printer, and telephone.
While on the job site, the job will become more physically active and can include the following: layout for necessary job conditions and requirements, climbing of stairs and ladder, and inspection of work in place requiring access to all areas of the site.
Work Environment: Office or on site in the field. Travel in a car or airplane may be required.
