The Estimator supports all efforts associated with pursuing new opportunities and with estimating the cost of jobs and advancing their progress during the preconstruction period. Duties include regular use of BIM software, perform quantity takeoffs, preparation of both conceptual and detailed estimates, value engineering studies, frequent discourse with subcontracting community, preparation of graphic presentations, etc. The position is fast-paced and its eventual structure is limited only by candidate abilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supporting the development of budgets for a project. This includes a substantial workload using BIM software programs for purposes including quantity takeoffs, visualization, site logistics studies, and the export of graphic collateral.
- Prepare Estimates. This includes review of proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-estimate meetings, analyze request for proposals to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Interfacing with subcontractors. The Estimator will solicit budget pricing as well as bid proposals from the marketplace, and will also engage subs in discussions on value engineering, constructability, schedule, etc.
- Preparation of proposals for new work. This will often include the creation of BIM study models and/or conceptual estimates, contribution of graphic content such as site logistics diagrams or sequencing studies, and written content as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 3 - 5 years of experience in construction estimating or 4 - 8 years in the construction industry is preferred.
- Broad understanding of commercial construction industry.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical data
- Computer knowledge and efficiency; advanced skills in BIM software – especially Autodesk Revit – are preferred and will cause the ideal candidate to stand out
- Strong work ethic / dependability
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent math skills
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and balance / prioritize between multiple tasks
- Detail-oriented mentality
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
