What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Operator position at Continental Carbon Company?
MAIN FUNCTION
Responsible for the operations portion of the plant facility. Observes and operates process equipment in a safe and smooth manner. Implements and follows plant procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with Production Supervisors in order to start up and shutdown carbon black reactors
- Establishes flow of carbon black on pelletizing units by following procedure.
- Collects quality control samples for processing by the Quality Lab.
- Monitors and trouble shoots process equipment in the field.
- Controls downtime by informing maintenance workers of equipment maintenance needs and concerns.
- Performs routine maintenance in order to keep the facility operational
- Conserves production resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Assist with improved quality and efficiencies in the Production Department.
- Ensures safety and environmental rules are followed
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs housekeeping on a daily basis around the facility.

- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, and associated tools is a plus.
- Twelve (12) months of related experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
