Salary Range: $41,203 to $76,326 based on 2021-2022 salary schedule

Qualifications: Enable students to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to develop individual and group performance skills and an understanding of music.

Job Title: Teacher Assignment: Music Teacher
Reports to: Principal Evaluated by: Principal
- Position Overview: Under the general supervision of a building administrator, performs a variety of tasks with major responsibility being instruction and supervision of students. Instruction of students shall include skill development, the expansion of knowledge and developing the ability to reason. Responsibilities include supervision, guidance, discipline, and safety of students. The use of independent judgment and decision making is required in many matters not having established rules, regulations, policies or precedent.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Plans and coordinates the activities of educational assistants and other paraprofessionals as assigned
- Identifies the needs of individual students by continuous assessment of their performance and abilities
- Uses identified student needs to plan instruction
- Prepares and writes instructional plans
- Uses a variety of appropriate methods and materials to implement instructional plans
- Organizes and manages classroom to create the optimum learning conditions
- Applies learning theories to meet the needs of students
- Evaluates and reports student progress
- Supervises students in and out of the classroom
- Initiates, plans, and carries out parent conferences
- Initiates and maintains communication with parents and colleagues
- Other Job Functions:
- Participates in in-service and professional development activities.
- Assists in the assessment of building level needs and the planning required to meet those needs
- Attends meetings and serves on committees as assigned or directed (or if individual volunteers)
- Sets and carries out goals each year.
- Conducts rehearsals and performances—demonstrating understanding of differences in style among various types of music
