Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Chief Technologist / Medical Director of Radiology performs all ultrasound examinations as ordered by the patient's attending physician. Develops and prepares film for interpretation, maintains supplies and equipment. Performs other related duties.
Qualifications / Requirements
Education
High School graduate. Two (2) year Ultrasound School at Community College level.
Required licensures / certifications
Current ARDMS (Abd, OB & Breast, RVT)required.
Current BLS Certification
Skills and Abilities
Excellent Customer Service Skills in order to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
Experience
Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy, understand principles of physics, electricity, and methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined Images. Must be able to set up and operate all types of equipment that will be used in a modern ultrasound department. Must know how to process radiology images in a PACS enviroment. Should have sufficient knowledge of psychology, patient care, and sterile technique to deal with all types of conditions of patients. Two (2) year experience as a sonographer.
