The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Support Specialist to join the team in Albany, NY. A successful candidate will be community-oriented, passionate about drinking water quality and/or community health, have strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills, and be skilled at working independently. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conducting statistical analysis of PFAS in groundwater data. Performing spatial data analysis using orbital or airborne images and GIS tools. Reviewing and compiling relevant literature. Presenting findings to colleagues and leadership. Writing research proposals and peer-reviewed papers. Writing/modifying scripts (e.g. Python, R) to tailor/customize analysis. Performing forensic analysis of hydrogeochemical and PFAS data for potential signature identification. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, or related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination Experience with digital image processing methods Strong oral and written communication skills and teamwork skills. Ability to understand scientific and health concepts, and communicate science with nonexperts. Ability to work towards multiple objectives simultaneously. Ability to work independently, and to serve as both a leader and a follower. Well organized and able to maintain large datasets. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with tribal communities is not required, but will be considered favorably. Important Details about the Position This is a hybrid position located in Albany, NY with the expectation of 50% onsite 50% remote following the initial training period which will be 100% onsite. This is a full-time three-year term position with potential for extension contingent upon funding and performance. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
