POSITION: Kinship Family Advocate
DEPARTMENT: Kansas Foster Care (Kansas City, KS)
Pay Grade: 3
Salary: $42,000.00 - $47,000.00 Annually
(Starting salary depends on education and experience)
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Kinship Family Advocate is responsible for managing a caseload as assigned by the supervisor. The primary responsibility is to provide placement support in relative and kin homes through face-to-face, in-home contacts based on level of care and practice definitions. This position must identify and coordinate support services for the child and resource families and seek and obtain resources to support the placement and avoid disruption. This position is required to be accessible by phone after hours, holidays, and weekends when assigned as on-call staff. The Kinship Family Advocate must attend case plan and engagement meetings and act as a catalyst to facilitate and supply kin with resources and training to ensure successful placements. This position must ensure resource family training needs are met and provide crisis planning and coordination to avoid disruption of placement. They must ensure COA standards are met and Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) guidelines and criteria are followed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other Human service-related field and required experience with children and families. The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree from an accredited university in Social Work or a related field, and be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board to practice in Kansas. All positions must pass background checks and physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
