Job Title: Director of Administrative ServicesThe work involves responsibility for directing the administrative operations of a large county department.
The incumbent directs and monitors a variety of agency administrative activities including accounting, collection and billing, fiscal and statistical reporting, and record keeping, quality assurance, responsible for program areas including investigation and child support, income maintenance programs, and contract administration. Works closely with other members of a small administrative team for the purpose of short and long term planning and general agency operation. The incumbent also develops strategic plans to improve department efficiency.
The work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Social Services with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgement in carrying out the details of the work.
Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate staff.

Either:(a)Possession of Bachelor's degree or higher, and four (4) years working in human services programs, two (2) of which must have been in supervisory capacity; OR (b)Possession of Associate’s degree or higher, and six (6) years working in human services programs, two (2) of which must have been in supervisory capacity. NOTE:
Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who provide this service can be found on the Internet at http://www.cs.ny.gov/jobseeker/degrees.cfm.
