General Statement of Duties


Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Provides screening, counseling, case management, training or other specific treatment or rehabilitation activities as directed for Henrico's Housing Choice Voucher Program; does related work as required.


Essential Duties


Provides day to day administration of Henrico's Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) through VHDA for individual who are elderly and/or disabled and reside in the counties of Henrico, Charles City, and New Kent. Follows VHDA and HUD regulations to manage the waiting list; determine eligibility; assist individuals with locating rental units; processing required paperwork and inspections of all units. Conducts meetings and maintains regular interface with voucher recipients, landlords/apartment managers, VHDA contacts and community members.
Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of treatment and/or rehabilitation of individuals with an intellectual disability or mental illness; some knowledge of mental health and/or intellectual disabilities and related problems; good interpersonal skills which include the ability to empathize, demonstrate respect, communicate, reflect feelings and confront constructively; ability to relate freely to and work effectively with clients and professionals from all levels of the community; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for any helping relationship; ability to write concisely and coherently; demonstrated ability to use good judgment.


Minimum Qualifications


Possession of a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


Additional Information


Position eligible for Career Development Program; Experience with Section 8 Housing programs a plus.

Valid Virginia driver's license required. TB Screening and Child Protective Services Record Check required, upon hire.

A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
