A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
Eligible applicants must be retired from the Division of Fire for a minimum of six (6) months. Applicants must be a retired Henrico County employee who successfully completed their probationary period while employed in a full-time status. Available jobs assignments will vary based on the needs of the department. Successful applicants will be hired as hourly/temporary employees and will not be allowed to work hours that exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week or 1,500 hours within a twelve-month period to allow the hourly/temporary employee to maintain VRS retirement benefits.
