JOB
Under general supervision to perform paraprofessional sheriff duties not requiring sworn peace officer status in the prevention of crime; to carry out special assignments in various phases of sheriff’s work and to do related work as required. Work with local communities in an effort to deter crime in Imperial County. Participate in the operations and activities of the Crime Prevention Bureau. This is an entry-level non-sworn position within the Sheriff’s Department; Sheriff’s Service Officers who are eligible may promote to jobs in the Deputy Sheriff series when openings occur. Incumbents may be assigned to any of the following division or units; Patrol Enforcement, Investigations, Crime Prevention, Coroners, Identification or Special Assignments.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
A valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
