What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Clerk (Corrections) position at County of Kent?
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will process incoming/outgoing mail. They will be responsible for searching all inmate mail for contraband/money and document any found contraband. They will also be responsible for storing, delivering, conducting and maintaining an ongoing itemized inventory of all supplies throughout the facility including ordering and stocking of office supplies, forms and clothing. They will work with Administration to order office supplies and forms.
Additional duties involve laundry service responsible for laundering any incoming clothing which is brought into the facility in an unsanitary condition. They will oversee trustees assigned to laundry services.
This individual will maintain the Correctional Facility property room. They will be responsible for receiving and storing personal clothing and effects of inmates booked into the facility, safeguarding the inmate's personal clothing and property in an organized and secure manner. They will also be issuing clothing to the inmates and returning personal clothes and effects when the inmate is released.
Schedule: Will work a rotating schedule consisting of 1st and 2nd shifts, weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Must have working knowledge of inventory management and inventory control procedures. Requires basic computer literacy. Desire an individual who has the ability to communicate positively with individuals from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
