Part Time General Clerk/Office Aide

Under the general supervision of the Building & Grounds/Parks Director, and coordinated with the Support Services Office Manager, the role of the General Clerk/Office Aide is to help ensure the success of the parks season and office functionality. The position will effectively gather, record, and communicate County Park and Historic Courthouse information to the public. The position will assist in the coordination and execution of marketing, event planning, fundraising and advertising of park events. The position will assist in the same manner for events, marketing, advertising, and event coordinating for the Lapeer County Historic Courthouse. The position will assist in administrative clerical duties for the Building & Grounds/ Parks Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides information and answers questions regarding County Parks events, amenities, services, fees, etc.
  • Assist in the verification and confirming of reservations for County Park pavilions and Lapeer Historic Courthouse events.
  • Operates standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, calculators etc.
  • Collect monies related to rentals, secures, and assists with deposits and reconciliation of records.
  • Receives incoming calls & emails, answers questions and inquires, and replies appropriately.
  • Assist in marketing and advertising with the preparation of promotional literature including graphics, brochures, flyers, and social media.
  • Assist in event set up including moving facility and recreation equipment such as picnic tables, trash cans, folding tables, and chairs.
  • Attend events to ensure proper management and any cleaning. This may result in afterhours/weekends.
  • Assist in the solicitation of sponsors and vendors for events.

Other Functions:

Other duties as assigned for the operation and function of the office and park.

Employment Qualifications:

Education: High school graduation, or equivalent experience.

Experience: Prefer some basic office skills including answering phones, filing, emailing, typing and computer work in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

Ability to accurately follow written and oral instructions, and ability to work independently.
Customer service ethic including neat appearance and professional attitude.
Ability to work together with other employees and managers.
Ability to effectively public speak and coordinate large events.
Knowledge of advertising on various social media platforms.
Ability to grow relationships through effective communication with sponsors and venders.

Exposure to equipment where risk exists of getting burned, bruised or scraped.
