POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Auditor-Controller is seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated individual to fill an Administrative Services Manager II vacancy in the Examinations, Classification, and Compensation Unit of the Department's Office of Human Resources.
VACANCY INFORMATION:
This vacancy is located in Administrative Services Division at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA. 90012.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: - Provide administrative and technical supervision to staff performing departmental exams, recruitment, classification, and compensation work.
- Conduct and supervise all aspects of departmental civil service exams, including the development of job analyses and test materials.
- Conduct and supervise classification studies of departmental positions.
- Respond to departmental inquiries requiring the interpretation of Civil Service Rules, County Code, and departmental/countywide policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Draft, review, and finalize a variety of written materials (e.g., recommendations to inquiries, MAPP salary placement letters, duty statements, transfer opportunity notices, responses to email inquiries, etc.).
- Provide guidance to departmental employees and managers, including executive management.
- Ensure that staff’s work is in compliance with relevant policies and authorities and in alignment with expectations.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and weaknesses and develop strategies as needed.
- Identify training needs and provide guidance and training opportunities to staff as necessary.
- Independently perform complex assignments and assist with special projects as needed.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of the Job Analysis and test development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new and/or changed assignments and circumstances with short notice.
- Proficiency with NeoGov and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Restricted to permanent employees of Los Angeles County at the level of Administrative Services Manager II.
Candidates must hold the payroll title of the position -OR- hold a comparable position with the same level and breadth of experience, complexity, scope of responsibility, and perform similar types of work.
