This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) current full-time Animal Attendant vacancy position at the Napa County Animal Shelter. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, and limited-term vacancies as they occur over the next 12 months.
About the Nap County Animal Shelter:
- Pay Range: $27.09 (Step 1) - $31.96/hour (Step 5)

Position Requirements:

Experience: Six (6) months of experience working with domestic animals in a veterinary hospital, humane society, or other animal facility; OR, possession of a valid registration as a Veterinary Technician in California.
- Note: Experience with personal pets is not considered qualifying. Experience on a ranch, farm, or with a humane society performing animal care and kennel work is considered qualifying.
- Education: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade including or supplemented by training in an animal-related field or in customer service.
- License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License, and possession of Euthanasia by Injection Certificate. Applicants who do not possess the Certificate may be appointed to the position, but the required course must be taken and the certificate obtained prior to permanent status being granted.
- Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers. This means that when Napa County experiences emergencies (earthquake, wildfire, power outage, etc.) you may be asked to pivot from your regular duties to provide critical services to those affected by the emergency (CA Govt Code § 3101).

SALARY -
Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
