DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS will create and maintain a top-notch development back office infrastructure by managing and optimizing organizational development processes to increase fundraising revenue. The CHNJ Director of Development Operations will partner with the Development Directors, Major Gift officers along with all other CHNJ departments to increase coordination, collaboration and strategic approaches for the Development Department and fundraising efforts. The CHNJ Director of Development Operations will promote the mission of Covenant House to serve young people and survivors of human trafficking with absolute respect and unconditional love.
Duties and responsibilities
- Leads moves management and Develops and manages the internal systems of prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for individuals and institutions, with a strong emphasis on major gifts prospect management, including but not limited to, portfolio management and tracking of proposals and goals.
- Ensures effective donor stewardship and supports donor stewardship program to ensure effective implementation and execution of the systems, processes, and workflows to effectively steward donors across all areas of giving.
- Strategizes donor engagement for Corporations and donors. Participates with frontline fundraisers in cultivation team discussions to strategize moves management at the donor level.
- Provides support to the CEO with donor communications and events. Works under the direction of the CEO to provide written communication and donor stewardship for the CEO portfolio and needed correspondence, including planning and follow up for fundraising events
- Manages Sale Force for Corporations and donors Oversees management of the team’s constituent relationship management system, including data entry, reporting, and data hygiene, by fostering collaboration with internal constituents such as Finance and frontline fundraisers.
- Oversees policies and procedures. Creates and maintains policies and procedures that promote quality donor data and data integrity and effective moves management; takes proactive leadership in making system recommendations that promote efficient flow of donor information to appropriate users.
- Leads analytics and learning for Corporations and donors. Consults with Development staff to track, analyze, and report on fundraising progress, donor trends, and overall fundraising landscape.
- Supports budgeting process. Collaborates with the CFO, Chief Development Officer and Senior Development Directors in the creation and tracking of the department’s revenue and expense budget and reforecast.
- Supports Events Attends and supports donor receptions, sleepouts and special events.
- Coordinates and facilitates meetings for the Development departments-Sets agenda with leadership, invites participants, takes notes and records follow-ups and next steps.
- Required to check and respond to company email and voice mails daily.
- Assists as needed with fundraising affairs and special events which may be conducted outside the employee’s normal work schedule.
- Attend professional development training as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned by the Chief Development Officer
Experience and Skills:
- Profound and demonstrated commitment to social change and an unmistakable passion for our mission
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five years experience in Development with a primary focus on operational infrastructure and experience supervising staff and convening collaborative teams
- Experience in and knowledge of revenue and expense budget development and management
- A demonstrated knowledge of moves management
