WAGE RANGE: $19.07 - $21.93 per hour DOE

Performs routine custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Honors and represents the mission, vision, values of CIT and the Public Works department.

Background Investigation Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb. The employee frequently will lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an interior setting and occasionally in an outdoor environment. Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and cleaning agents will occur. Exposure to unpleasant odors, bodily fluids, infectious disease, or hazardous material will occur. Situations occur where surgical masks, safety goggles, gloves, face shields, and other protective gear are needed. Noise level is usually minimal to moderate. Evening work will be required.
Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions. All positions are required to adhere to CITs established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Cleans, dusts, and wipes furniture; sweeps, mops or vacuums floors; empties and cleans waste baskets, windows, and trash containers; empties and cleans ashtrays and cigarette urns.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Refills toilet paper, paper towels, sanitary napkins, and soap dispensers.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes areas where traumatic events have occurred.
- Vacuums and spot-cleans rugs and carpets; cleans floor mats and entrance rug runners.
- Sweeps sidewalks, picks up trash, and waters lobby plants.
- Replaces fluorescent light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
- Stocks and stores cleaning materials and supplies in accordance with established safety practices.
- Maintains service rooms and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Mixes cleaning agents in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
- Adheres to safety procedures and utilizes safety apparel as appropriate.
- Operates and maintains cleaning equipment.
- Moves equipment, materials, and furnishings as needed.
- Maintains confidential information.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of use of chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
- Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Ability to learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks within strict deadlines.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- One to three months experience in custodial work, or related experience preferred.
- Valid drivers license is required when driving vehicles for work-related purposes.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements below.
