ABOUT THE TRIBE:

The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians (“Tribe”) is a federally-recognized Indian Tribe located in Redwood Valley, Mendocino County, California. The Coyote Valley Reservation (“Reservation”) is 120 miles north of San Francisco and seven miles north of the town of Ukiah. The rural community of Redwood Valley is in the heart of California’s wine country, nestled among rolling hills of oak trees and vineyards. The beautiful Mendocino Coast is a fifty-mile drive west, and the famous “Avenue of the Giants” Redwood National Forest is a two-hour drive north on Highway 101. Lake Mendocino is a short five-mile drive south and Clear Lake is a twenty-five-mile drive southeast.

The Tribe operates a number of governmental departments including a tribal police force, tribal education, health, housing, social services, recreation, and environmental protection departments, among others. In addition, the Tribal Government operates a Tribal administration complex providing administrative support, accounting and fiscal accountability, and human resource functions for the Tribe. The Tribe also maintains a learning center, swimming pool facility, gymnasium and park.

Our tribal corporations own two gaming facilities, a convenience store and gas station and a new hotel. The intent of the Tribe is to reach total economic self-sufficiency for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life of our Tribal members, while making positive contributions to the greater community. The Tribe employs 200 people.

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises and provides coverage of surveillance for the entire Casino facility and neighboring businesses (Hotel and Convenience Store). All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Coyote Valley Casino policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Value Statement of the Coyote Valley Casino.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Possess knowledge of policies and procedures from all departments.
• Provides complete training of all surveillance personnel in all phases of their duties.
• Supervises department personnel with established departmental procedures to assure the safeguard of all assets, equipment and property.
• Adheres to all regulatory, departmental and company policies, especially those regarding confidentiality and security.
• Shall be responsible for input into evaluations of all Surveillance employees and completed in a timely manner.
• Shall monitor and document all absentees, shortage and vacations.
• Maintain proper paperwork and log sheets as directed by policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NIGA regulations.
• Operates all surveillance equipment, including, but not limited to VCR’s, Monitors, Switches, Computers, Controllers and Cameras as assigned.
• May be asked to establish weekly work schedules for all Surveillance employees.
• May be asked to verify and approve all payroll time sheets.
• Communicate regularly with employees and keep them informed of all activities and events.
• Conduct self always in a manner that reflects credit on the casino and encourage others to do the same.
• Must abide by the dress code maintaining the professional appearance of the Casino at all times while on property.
• Must be able to work well with co-workers/supervisors/managers.
• Must consistently demonstrate a high level of customer service to customers and employees, and represent the casino in a friendly and professional manner.
• Shall cooperate with the Gaming Commissioners to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the Coyote Valley Casino.
• Must maintain a good attendance record.
• Maintains professional behavior with positive representation of Coyote Valley while on and off the clock.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality during and after employment.
• May be asked to perform various duties as assigned by the Casino General Manager.
• Perform all other surveillance observer duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three years (3) experience in an organizational management position.
• Three years (3) Security/Surveillance and Casino experience.
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of all table games (pit) and casino operations.

Language Skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally in English.

Reasoning Ability:

• Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
• Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate loud. Must be able to work in an intense environment where a high degree of concentration is necessary to perform the required job duties.

• Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
