Job Description
The Polisher is responsible for sanding, polishing and protective coating application on aluminum parts, aircraft structure and aircraft transparencies to meet quality standards. May require periodic oversight by more experienced personnel to accomplish elements/tasks and processes within the statement of work.
Essential Functions:
- Perform sanding and polishing of aluminum parts and aircraft structure to meet quality standards.
- Perform sanding and polishing of aircraft transparencies to meet quality standards.
- Set up and operate such typical shop equipment as orbital sanders, screw guns, wheel polishers and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
- Lay out polishing schemes and design templates.
- Apply protective coatings, including masking, stripping and other detail work.
- Maintain Quality, Schedule and Cost standards.
- Work from Blueprints, Work Instructions and Engineering Specifications.
- Notify supervisor of any/all malfunctions, defect and damages of equipment, material and product.
- Adhere to all applicable Environmental, Safety, Health, FOD and Operations Procedures/Directives.
- Perform Production Accountability duties associated with the processing, verification, quality auditing, and inspection of assemblies, parts and tooling, for which the individual has been delegated production accountability.
Additional/Specific Requirements:
Designated employees in this job classification may be required to handle, transport, and/or participate in clean up of minor hazardous waste spills. Prior to performing any of the above activities, designated employees will have satisfactorily completed training in Hazardous Waste Handling.
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
