PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Roadmaster you will directly provide and ensure oversight and compliance with corporate policy and regulatory engineering standards. Provide leadership accountability for input/output of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics. Ensures the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct union reports.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
Background Investigation

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Roadmaster you will directly provide and ensure oversight and compliance with corporate policy and regulatory engineering standards. Ensures the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct union reports.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Direct, coordinate, and/or implement emergency response to service interruptions and implement seasonal plans
- Lead Union employees within the terms of the Collective Agreement and assists in handling corrective actions, disputes and grievances
- Accountable for current year execution and provides information, recommendations, and validation for scope of work documents, annual/multi-year capital planning priorities
- Provide oversight of engineering materials and accurate inventory; ensuring inspections are properly documented into Track Asset Management Systems
- Complete monthly ride along of assigned territory with Train and Engines (T&E) department
- Ensure CPKC is aligned with all Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory processes
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- 5 years’ proven experience in track maintenance & renewal
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading Track Renewal crews such as Rail Tie crews
- Complete understanding of Railway Track Safety Rules
- Knowledge and full comprehension of Collective Agreement language
