Overview
We are looking for a dependable and hard-working Yard Laborer to join our team. In this role, you'll be working outdoors, assisting customers as they arrive, directing traffic safely onto the pad, sorting materials, and keeping the work area clean and organized. While experience operating a skid steer is a plus, we’re happy to train the right candidate.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, being outside, and working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct customers safely onto the pad for unloading
- Assist in backing vehicles into proper positions
- Identify and call out any “add-on” items that require additional charges
- Pick out recyclable materials such as metal and cardboard from the trash pile
- Operate a skid steer (training provided) to help load product
- Communicate clearly with scale house and customers regarding material types and placement
- Maintain a clean and safe yard area at all times
- Follow all safety procedures and wear proper protective equipment
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to walk, bend, lift, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and operate machinery (skid steer training provided)
- Saturday availability required
Preferred:
- Previous experience in outdoor labor or equipment operation (not required)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Schedule
- Day shift; arrival time is 7:15 AM
- Saturday availability is required
- Flexibility is important, especially in winter months — employees may be asked to adjust schedules due to snowstorms, including coming in early, staying late, or working on Sundays for snow removal and safety

Physical Demands & Work Environment
This is a physically demanding, outdoor position. Regular tasks include walking, lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for long periods. The role requires working in all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain, wind) and around loud equipment and moving vehicles. Safety training and protective gear are provided.
