What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager of Taproom Operations position at Crafted Artisan Meadery?
General Manager of Taproom Operations: Destination Experience & Growth Leader Crafted Artisan Meadery – Mogadore/Suffield, OH $55k Base | $65k Potential Comp | Sundays & Mondays OFF | 8 PM Exit
The Opportunity: Crafted Artisan Meadery is a national leader in the craft mead industry, recently named "Best Session Mead Producer in the United States" by the National Honey Board. Our home is a stunningly renovated historic church—a destination venue that draws visitors from across the country. We are seeking a Professional Taproom General Manager to lead our high-volume, seven-figure hospitality operation into its next chapter of growth.
The Role: Strategic Ownership & Active Leadership. This role is designed for a self-motivated professional who thrives on operational autonomy and high-growth environments. You will be responsible for the "big picture" of the guest experience, with a schedule that prioritizes high-level strategy during off-peak hours and decisive leadership on the floor during our busiest windows. This is not a "shift-filling" position; it is an opportunity to own the operational success of a nationally recognized brand.
- Strategic Operations & Leadership: You will primarily operate in a high-level administrative and creative capacity, dedicating the majority of your week to business-driving initiatives: event conceptualization, data-driven POS analysis, inventory strategy, and brand marketing. While you are a "lead-from-the-front" professional, your time on the floor is targeted and surgical—stepping into an active service role during peak volume windows or signature events to ensure our standards are upheld and to coach the team through the rush.
- The "One Team" Model: Oversee FOH operations with a "dotted line" to our Kitchen Manager. You’ll handle the master schedule and collaborate on "One Team" strategies to ensure the kitchen and bar are perfectly synced for peak rushes and events.
- Revenue & Retail Conversion: You will coach our amazing service team to follow the "Crafted Model" for guest experience and hospitality; converting guest experiences into retail sales and maintaining our strong retail revenue benchmark.
- Events & Programming: You will own the event calendar. This goes beyond just "hosting" third parties which we do (live music, workshops, trivia etc.); you will conceptualize and promote signature "homegrown" events (Themed Nights, St. Patrick's Day, Vendor Markets or our Kick-Off to Summer as examples) using Canva and AI tools to promote on social media driving traffic and brand loyalty.
The Competitive Advantage: Quality of Life
We offer a level of professional autonomy and a work-life balance that is virtually non-existent in the traditional hospitality or craft alcohol industries:
- Professional Work-Life Balance: This salaried position is designed for high impact with a unique Tuesday–Saturday schedule that offers every Sunday and Monday off. Unlike typical hospitality roles, our model focuses on evening "peak" leadership, generally allowing for an 8:00 PM departure and ensuring you are home while the night is still young. Additionally, we are closed for all major holidays. You will never have to choose between your career and your family on Christmas, Thanksgiving, or the 4th of July.
- The Pay: $55,000 Base Performance Bonuses. Our bonus structure is designed for a motivated leader to significantly exceed their base through proven revenue growth.
- The Benefits: Comprehensive Medical/Dental/Vision (50% employer-paid), Employer-matched Simple IRA (3% match), and 1–2 weeks of paid vacation.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of management in high-volume hospitality (Taproom, Craft Brewery, or Restaurant).
- A "Servant Leader" heart—you lead by showing, and you take pride in a pristine, high-energy room. You are personable, professional, and should be the person guests and staff look to for the "vibe" of the night.
- Proficiency in POS reporting (Arryved preferred), Untappd for Business, and creative marketing tools (Canva/Social Media). Photography and video skills are a plus.
