How You Will Make An Impact
The Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer is accountable for the planning, design, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and supervision of projects related to New Product development, continuous improvement, and infrastructure repair. Other responsibilities include leading problem-solving efforts to address manufacturing issues and concerns, overseeing upgrades to existing systems, providing project management for new systems, and developing design improvements. You would be managing projects ranging from basic to complex systems for pulp, paper, and security feature production.

The salary range for this role is $112,000 – $120,000 annually. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.

How You Will Make An Impact

- Experience as a Project Manager of engineering projects involving multiple disciplines, preferably in a paper making environment.
- Strong understanding of Machine Design including but not limited to power transmission, linkages and levers, basic machining practice.
- Ability to create designs and layouts from initial concepts and/or existing designs utilizing AutoCAD.
- Ability to generate and evaluate technical specifications for papermaking systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), tact and diplomacy at all levels for dealing with suppliers and building/leading teams.
- Must possess solid computer skills with Windows based programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or commensurate experience.
- Experience as a Project Manager of engineering projects involv ing multiple disciplines, preferably in a paper making environment.
- Strong understanding of Machine Design including but not limited to power transmission, linkages and levers, basic machining practice.
- Ability to create designs and layouts from initial concepts and/or existing designs utilizing AutoCAD.
- Ability to generate and evaluate technical specifications for papermaking systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), tact and diplomacy at all levels for dealing with suppliers and building/leading teams.
- Must possess solid computer skills with Windows based programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum.
- Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or commensurate experience.
- 7-10 years of engineering design and project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Detailed knowledge of the pulp and paper making process and associated equipment, including:
- Winders – Web tension control, roll build quality, and safety systems.
- Press Sections – Nip loading, roll covers, and water removal efficiency.
- Dryer Sections – Steam and condensate systems, dryer can design, and thermal efficiency.
- Calenders & Reels – Surface finish control and structural integrity
- Finishing and Converting sheeter equipment
- Strong understanding of Machine Design, including:
- Gearbox Design & Selection – Ability to size and specify gearboxes for high-load, continuous-duty applications in paper machine sections.
- Line Sizing & Power Transmission – Proficiency in calculating torque, speed ratios, and shaft alignment for drive systems across forming, pressing, and drying sections.
- Pump & Vacuum Systems – Experience with liquid handling and vacuum pump design for stock preparation, dewatering, and sheet formation processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting, fault analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma and 5S.
- Experience managing all aspects of capital projects (valued at $0K-$2M) involving multiple disciplines, preferably in a paper making or industrial environment.
