What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Programs position at CRATER DISTRICT AREA AGENCY ON AGING?
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists the Executive Director with overall agency operations; assumes the duties of the Executive Director in his/her absence.
2. Participates in the development and implementation of the Area Plan.
3. Oversees the agency case management, including the supervision of the intake worker/clerical assistant and the maintenance of individual client files.
4. Coordinates and provides overall supervision of agency programs and services (including but not limited to consolidated access, home care, employment, legal assistance, and weatherization); directly supervises program managers.
5. Directs the preparation, submission, and distribution of required program reports; coordinates this activity with the director of the division of administration, when necessary.
6. Develops and implements the agency plan for monitoring, evaluating programs and services.
7. Negotiates and monitors contracts for transportation and nutrition.
8. Reviews and interprets laws and regulations affecting programs for older people.
9. Represents the agency on human services committees and work groups; attends other meetings, workshops, and special events on behalf of the agency.
10. Make presentations to community groups.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved planning, managing, and developing programs and services for older people.
2. Knowledge of current trends in the delivery of aging programs and services.
3. Knowledge of the needs of older people.
4. Skill and ability to supervise staff and to maintain effective working relationships with the staff of the agency, and with other organizations.
5. Ability to work independently without close supervision for extended periods.
6. Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports of agency activities to funding sources and to groups and individuals interested in the needs of older people.
7. Possession of a valid driver's license.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required.
