Lead Art Teacher Position:
Created By Kids is a fine arts-focused educational business serving families throughout Brooklyn and beyond. We are currently looking to fill our Art Teacher position. This job requires phenomenal teaching and communication skills along with experience with curriculum development, and classroom management while maintaining a kid-friendly work environment. We are centrally located just steps from Barclays/Atlantic Center.
Job Summary:
Lead Art teacher will be responsible for guiding students’ artistic interest and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with the studio’s standards; developing a fundamental understanding and appreciation of the arts; discovering and developing talents of students while maintaining a fun creative classroom environment.
Job Description:
- Teach techniques and skills in visual arts including but not limited to: ceramics (clay), drawing, painting, print-making, and textiles.
- Ability to manage a classroom of up to 18 students varying in ages from 4-13
- Travel to local nearby schools to provide off-site classes
- Demonstrate the step-by-step of a project
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
- Understands the fundamentals of a variety of art mediums, clay, paint (acrylic, watercolor, and gouache), printmaking (screen, relief, and block), drawing, textile, and sewing.
- Instruct the students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
- Organize storage areas and control the use of materials, equipment, and tools.
- Preparing materials for upcoming classes
- Working in a team to develop a curriculum
- Maintain professional competence through in-studio training and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Communicate with parents and offsite Directors
- Ability to project a fun, outgoing personality, while developing professional relationships with your students, parents, and colleagues
- Desire to grow within the company
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Administration
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge/Skills For Lead Art Teaching Job
- Two years of experience working with kids
- Visual art and teaching experience
- A passion for creating art in any form
Minimum Education Requirements / Certification:
- High school Diploma
- Bachelor’s degree
- Mandated Reporter Certification (you will need to complete this before you start the job)
Additional Requirements:
- All candidates must pass a background check and a biennial physical to keep up to date with the DOH
- Provide two professional references
- Must complete onsite training before leading classes

- Starting pay is based on classroom experience $20 - $22 hourly, with a guaranteed $2 wage increase within the first 3 months, depending on training timeline and confidence to lead a classroom
