What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health & Safety Advisor - Retail & Warehouse position at Hempel (USA), Inc.?
This role is responsible for conducting Health and Safety audits on corporate, industrial, or retail facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and related local, state, and federal policies, standards, and guidelines
Essential responsibilities to look forward to:
- Promote a safety culture throughout the organization from the bottom up and top down.
- Coordinate internal audits and risk analysis for all retail stores/warehouse including follow up on progress of remedial actions resulting from audit findings.
- Collaborate with management to identify, correct, and abate recognized safety hazards, behaviors, non-compliant programs, procedures and other loss exposures.
- Implements safety and accident prevention programs.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to workplace safety.
- Collaborate with Hempel HSE network and other relevant functions to share best practice.
- Track and maintain HSE metrics and report KPI’s progress.
- Implements / sustains safety policy directives; ensures compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Analyses incident-related trends; leads incident investigations to resolve root cause(s); evaluates effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and other safety-related activities, including DOT.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including descriptions of the event, investigation findings, and recommended preventive measures.
- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency response, and safe work practices.
- Serve as the primary contact on all health and safety related matters.
- Represents the Company to external regulatory agencies (e.g., Fire Marshal & OSHA, etc.)
- Assists with regulatory agency audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years’ experience in a safety management role preferably in retail, warehouse, distribution environments.
- Experience related to injury prevention, work injury, liability, safety, and accident prevention programs.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, ANSI, etc.).
- Understanding of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards and national fire codes (Preferred).
- Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals across all organizational levels.
- CPR/AED Certified
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Flexible, analytical and detailed oriented.
