Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Inspector to join our team. The Maintenance Inspector will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting maintenance work on transportation infrastructure, ensuring that all activities meet both FDOT standards and our company’s quality expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed inspections of maintenance work on roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure.
- Verify that maintenance activities comply with FDOT specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Document inspection findings, including deficiencies, safety hazards, and areas requiring repairs or further attention.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and maintain organized inspections and maintenance work records.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address and resolve maintenance issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies and procedures.
- Ensure that safety protocols and environmental regulations perform all maintenance work.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in maintenance practices and project execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or a related field focusing on transportation infrastructure is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent driver’s license history to indicate a habit of safe driving
- Current valid driver’s licenses
- Strong oral communication skills are crucial for this role, as they are needed to interact with other workers on the job site and to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and other relevant software.
- Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, guidelines, and safety requirements.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and technology, with the ability to produce detailed reports.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, stand, crouch, climb for prolonged periods (8-10 hours per day) and perform repetitious tasks.
- Ability to routinely lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads up to 50 pounds, demonstrating physical strength.
Working Condition:
- Overtime, nights, and weekends as required
- Willingness to travel for projects in the different counties
- Outdoor environment, which includes inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Varying noise levels
- Must be able to use Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Must be able to comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
