Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will traverse unimproved property, utilize analytical equipment, and locate adjacent property elements as needed. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for general water table identification and soil layer classification for the purposes of project development and Department of Environmental Protection (FLDEP)/ Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD)/South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) permit applications.
Additionally, you will also be responsible for making use of various lab tools, levels, lasers, and proctor equipment. You should supervise the materials and tools on a job site and identify hazards accordingly.
To be a successful Field Technician, you should possess keen visual and mental assessment skills, and have a habit of adhering to safety rules and technical procedures. You should also have excellent communication skills as well as be able to work comfortably in the elements.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
· Studying field sites and identifying testing areas.
· Performing hand auger borings.
· Identifying the amount of time needed for testing tasks.
· Determining effective entry and exit paths from a job site.
· Using testing equipment to result actionable data for civil design.
· Placing equipment and vehicles at safe working distances from roadways.
· Unloading tools, equipment, and materials from trucks.
· Loading tools, equipment, and materials into trucks.
· Paying close attention to the safety of the worksite and the surrounding area.
· Cleaning tools and equipment after use.
· Following all safety rules and regulations.
· Adhering generally accepted the safety precautions and protocols.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, or comparable field of engineering/sciences.
· 2 years of work experience as a Field Technician or a related role (not required of Collegiate Recruit Opportunities - CRO).
· Outstanding physical fitness.
· Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines.
· Extensive knowledge of various lab equipment used in office and in the field.
· Knowledge of the natural Florida environment and general water runoff behaviors.
· Good communication skills.
· Basic directional and forestry navigation skills.
· Excellent detail-oriented and hardworking individual.
· Eagerness to work for full working hours.
· Understanding and knowledge of construction materials.
· Good time management skills.
· Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to twist, pull, push, and stand for lengths of time.
· Comfortable working in adverse climate conditions.
· Unafraid of creatures great and small.
