MISSION:
The mission of the YMCA of the Foothills is to organize, develop, finance, and conduct programs for an association of persons of all ages that will, by putting Christian principles into practice, enrich the quality of their lives spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The LIFEGUARD is responsible for the safety of members in the pool and pool area by enforcing policies and procedures courteously and professionally while focused on member engagement and YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
HOURS/SHIFT:
Part time and may include evenings and weekends
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age 16 years old.
- Previous experience as a Lifeguard preferred
- CERTIFICATIONS:
- YMCA or ARC Lifeguard
- ARC/ASHI CPRO or AHA BLS-C, First Aid, AED
- O2
- Blood Borne Pathogens
- Must pass written and practical skills exam prior to duty
- Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Must be able to model the core values; Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.
- Ability to follow and accept instruction, and relate well with peers.
- Must have commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
- Has sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to perform rescues as needed and required
- Creates a safe environment for member and staff by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pools
- Has the ability to scan a pool continuously and focuses attention on swimmers for lengthy periods of time
