General Description:

To compute and collect payments from drive-thru customers for utility services and other payment types, post accounts, and balance receipts and reports.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

· Receives cash, check, money orders, and other payment methods from drive-thru customer.

· Totals items of bill, using adding machine.

· Records transaction on PC and issues receipt and any change due customer.

· Balances cash drawer with total received.

· Explains charges on bill to customer and initiates action to address complaints.

· May collect customer deposit for service connection.

· May specialize in handling delinquent bills or those presented for partial payment.

· May handle requests for payment arrangements. Determines applicability. Adds arrangements.

· May create service orders.

· Makes certain that payments received are recorded to collection list.

· Operates a PC to enter data, retrieve data and to print reports or information.

· Maintains records, compiles reports. Files alphabetically and numerically.

· Opens and/or closes vault.

· May receive cross training in other department activities and assists in training others in assigned functions.

· Maintains confidentiality of data.

· Follows all Commission rules, regulations, and policies.

· As a public employee is responsible for maintaining good relations with the public served.

· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

· Use eyes, hands, and fingers accurately and at the same time to enter data in books and forms or to operate a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, or other office machines.

· Compute and record numbers correctly.

· Analyze reports and data.

· Follow procedures for keeping records.

· Read and copy large quantities of numbers without error.

· Perform work that is routine and detailed.

Physical Demands:

Lifting 25 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as computer printouts, cash/coin drawers, notebooks, ledgers, small tools etc. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing.

Environmental Conditions:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.

Math Skills:

Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.

Language Skills

Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read and understand instructions, safety rules etc., look up unfamiliar words in dictionary for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate pauses, emphasis, and correct pronunciation.

· Data: Computing: Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination of and/or reporting on events. Performing arithmetic operations and reporting on and/or carrying out a prescribed action in relation to them. Includes counting various monetary denominations.

· People:

o Speaking-Signaling: talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and or directions to helpers or assistants.

o Taking instructions-Helping: Helping applies to “non-learning” helpers. Training in all phases of computer and cross training.

o Negotiating: Exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions.

· Things: Operating-Controlling: Starting, stopping, controlling and adjusting the progress of machines or equipment. Operating machines involves setting up and adjusting the machine or materials as the work progresses. Controlling involves observing progress of operations and turning devices to regulate reactions of materials.

Specific Vocational Preparation:

Specific Vocational Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma from an accredited school or GED.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.07 - $26.24 per hour
