CPF is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility located in Nashua, New Hampshire and is where we assemble and package all of our products in a clean-room environment. The Applications and Polymers Scientist is primarily responsible for researching, planning, and designing chemical and mechanical processes and systems for producing membrane filters. This position directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of equipment used for manufacturing membrane filters.

What you will be accomplishing in our team environment:

  • Train and become skilled at chemical and mechanical processes for making membranes at Critical Process Filtration, Inc.
  • Gain knowledge of Membrane and Applications Processes
  • Lead research activities on new and existing products as well as identifying and implementing new technologies within the membrane business group.
  • Fully develop and manage the technical schedule for projects from ideation through scale up to launch, including key tactical items for other functional areas.
  • Learn how to operate, maintain, and repair all Membrane equipment to obtain optimum utilization of machines and eliminate system malfunctions.
  • Recommend and implement modifications and improvements to the membrane operation; including but not limited to, equipment and procedural reviews, logistics and charge modification process.
  • Plan, coordinate and lead projects that become approved for implementation.
  • Support the product testing of membranes, cartridges and capsules and the application of defect and failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, warranty departments and staff on defined project priorities, project scope and future development directions.
  • Publish technical reports and conduct technical presentations.

What we are looking for:

  • Masters or PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Material Science and Engineering, preferred, BS or MS with additional industry experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the development of membrane products and their associated processing technologies such as mixing and casting.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of the physical, chemical, and mechanical behavior of the membrane.
  • Knowledge to analyze data, understand structure property relationships of polymers and conduct relative testing and evaluations.
  • Training or experience on the design of experiments, especially as applied to the development of chemical formulations.
  • Ability to understand and apply work methods that drive accuracy and speed.
  • Able to generate suggestions for improving work and develop innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as mentoring a small team of engineers/scientists.
  • Project management skills in a cross functional environment.
  • Fluent in using relevant software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Minitab.
  • Strong desire to learn and courage to push the boundaries of what is possible.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 30 lbs.
