Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team in preparing delicious pastries for local farmer's markets.
The ideal candidate will assist in baking, setting up pastries on racks, placing them in the oven, and packing them for sale. This role requires a passion for baking, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Pastry Preparation: Assist in preparing pastry dough and fillings according to established recipes and standards.
Baking: Place pastries in the oven and monitor baking times to ensure optimal quality and consistency.
Packing: Pack pastries for sale, ensuring they are properly labeled and stored to maintain freshness.
Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment used during the baking process.
Inventory Management: Assist in tracking inventory levels of ingredients and supplies and communicate any shortages to the Head Baker.
Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, as well as food safety guidelines, to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications: Education/ Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a bakery or food preparation environment.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of baking techniques and pastry preparation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy trays of pastries and stand for extended periods.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.57 - $24.78 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
