RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), a trade association located in Arlington, VA, is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist is an early in career opportunity that will oversee and execute general marketing, RISE membership communications, association social media accounts, association website and other electronic communication technology, and special projects and events with a commitment to delivering exceptional content and programming in collaboration with RISE teammates and members. You will be expected to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners, RISE teammates, and association members, and meet project and production deadlines. This position reports to the President.

Responsibilities

· Oversee all aspects of membership marketing and communications efforts in support of membership retention and growth, maximizing event attendance, as well as supporting RISE programs and activities to maximize visibility and impact (including, but not limited to, website, newsletter, annual report, member alerts, and other collateral).

· Manage all marketing and communications activities related to key RISE annual events, including the RISE Annual Meeting, the CLA/RISE Regulatory Conference, and the RISE Industry Issues Updates.

· Serve as editor, writer, coordinator, and distributor of content for members and stakeholders in the bimonthly e-newsletter (RISE Matters), member alerts, and other member-focused communications.

· Create and edit a range of written materials, including scripts, testimony, comments, talking points, fact sheets, advisories, and presentations for alignment with RISE brand and messaging standards.

· Serve as lead on communications projects to support the work of RISE and its consultants, developing and following project budgets, developing and using creative briefs to support successful, and ensuring quality and timely project delivery.

· Create and implement association membership development and retention projects, communicating details of member services and programs to the membership, responding to member inquiries, and keeping the membership informed about RISE activities and programs.

· Write website content and maintain the association’s website(s).

· Develop and post social media content for association social media channels and work with RISE Team, in particular the Vice President of Public Affairs, to develop and implement a monthly editorial calendar.

· Monitor trade media channels and create weekly summary reports.

· Serves as staff lead on association committees, as needed.

· Photograph association events for print, digital, and social media posting.

· Work with Administrative Coordinator to manage member and stakeholder database, maintaining up-to-date distribution lists.

· Work with Vice President of Public Affairs to align all content creating with RISE brand and messaging standards.

· Serve as day-to-day back-up to Vice President of Public Affairs for media inquiries and management of RISE news releases and responses.


Requirements

 

Education and Work Experience 

· BA/BS in communications, marketing communications, public relations, journalism, or similar field required.

· 3-5 years' experience in communications or marketing communications role or related position.

· Professional portfolio required.

Additional Qualifications

· Exceptional written and oral communications and marketing skills, including strong writing, copy editing, and project management skills.

· Motivation to learn and work in a high-pressure, high-performance, and deadline driven environment.

· Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.

· Self-starter with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

· Experience preparing and managing communications plans, including the capability to distill complex, technical information into concise and influential communications.

· Strong working knowledge of social media, particularly Twitter and LinkedIn.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPress and iContact.

· Limited travel may be required throughout the year (less than 20%).

Salary : $60,600 - $76,700
