What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineering Co-op position at Cross Domain Systems?
Overview:
Cross Domain Systems (CDS) is a small engineering firm that specializes in autonomous multi-domain vehicles and low-cost systems. The team has developed and deployed unmanned underwater and airborne systems for government and commercial customers. A CDS co-op will work directly with experienced engineers on the development and initial production of the Caltrop family of fixed-wing, low-cost UAVs.
We are a small company. Applicants should be prepared to perform a variety of tasks and work closely with other team members.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop CAD models for manufacturing equipment
- Support design, assembly, and testing of fixed-wing UAV
- Participate in outdoor flight testing (all weather conditions)
- Contribute to documentation, prototyping, and production efforts
Qualifications:
- Proficient with SOLIDWORKS, preferred experience with large assemblies
- Ability to work independently and learn on the job
- Experience with RC vehicles or Ardupilot
- Basic programming in Python or C
- Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Pixhawk
- Applicants must be US citizen and may be subject to security screening
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Internship
Pay: $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
