The Product Development Research Technologist is responsible for assisting Product Developers in the ongoing development and improvement of products and processes at Danone. This role will perform a variety of tasks in a Research and Development setting including benchtop sample creation, pilot plant support, analytical testing of food and beverage, shipping & receiving, and material management.
Responsibilities :
Support Product Developers in the design, industrial implementation, and launch follow up of products renovation for cost optimization purpose
Execute benchtop work (i.e. Sample mixing and hand packaging)
Organize tasting sessions and collecting feedback
Collect and analyze data (basic statistical review) from pilot, industrial trials, and launch follow up
Coordinate logistics for raw material and samples delivery / acquisition
Support ingredient and finished product and process documentations (specifications, food safety documents,), as well as nutrition facts labeling data entry in system, specifications routing for approval, etc.
Analyze statistical and technical data while identifying trends that translates to the development of the product and the specification.
Collaborate with suppliers to obtain best results for product development (brief suppliers and follow up on their progress)
The employee is required to be able to taste and smell various food products and detect various attributes including taste, odor, and / or texture
This position is responsible for assisting with, organizing and performing a variety of physical and analytical tasks under general supervision
Support pilot plant team with trials (as needed)
Support shelf life studies (analytical and sensory testing)
Manage packing and shipping of products (weekly)
Manage unpacking and organizing of packages received (weekly)
Responsible for maintaining analytical equipment and running product analysis (weekly)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required :
Bachelors degree or higher in Food Science or closely related field preferred.
Minimum 1 years of experience in manufacturing / lab environment / CPG
Basic understanding of food safety and handling procedures
Basic understanding of lab safety rules and procedures
Must have manual dexterity, desire to and ability to perform benchwork ensuring food safety
Must be well organized and have a positive attitude
Must have good communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to multitask and the desire to take initiative
Must have a profession demeanor and be punctual and reliable
Must be proficient in word, excel, outlook, and have internet searching capabilities
Must work well as part of a team but also be able to function on an individual basis
Must be able to work with confidential materials and subsequently maintain an appropriate level of professionalism
Preferred Qualifications :
Technical understanding on product formulation, industrial processes and manufacturing practices, preferred knowledge and experience working on dairy
