What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician position at Cross Technologies Inc.?


I. JOB SUMMARY

Assemble units and components as well as convert and repair material to customer

requirements and designer specifications to meet or exceed department goals. Provide

assistance to those outside your department as well as those in your department. Exercise

excellent teamwork and communication with everyone that you work with. Complete

special projects as assigned by your supervisor thoroughly and on time.


II. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Assemble units and components, and/or convert as well as repair material to meet factory

specifications, customer requirements, bill of materials, drawings, assembly instructions and

departmental goals for accuracy and timeliness.

B. Immediately report discrepancies to the bill of material, questionable product quality, and/or

potential problems with the order entry to the Production Manager as well as to the

inventory planner responsible for the product line or associate who entered the order.

C. Exhibit teamwork in dealings with the engineering group, shop, warehouse, and department

associates to meet goals of the division.

D. Communicate fully to keep all appropriate people informed of important issues.

E. Maintain a clean and safe work area, and follow all OSHA requirements to protect yourself

and others.

F. Utilize warehouse management software to execute pulling and processing job material on

work orders and conversion orders.

G. Always work toward the attainment of the department and division goals of quality and

timely delivery.


III. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Maintain logs and records to support department documentation & statistics

B. Assist sales associates with requests for technical information and resources.

C. Interact with our vendors to gain or give information.

D. Safety

1. Follow Cross Company policies for safe operation of all machinery and

equipment.

2. Follow “best practices” and training to avoid lifting, repetitive motion, or

other job-related injuries.

3. Report all unsafe practices or conditions to your supervisor immediately.

E. Complete special projects assigned by your supervisor thoroughly and on time.

V. POSITION SPECIFICATION


A. Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or GED required. CFP Mechanic Certification preferred.

2. 2-3 years industry-related experience or

3. 3-5 years experience in a mechanical environment


B. Knowledge Required

1. Basic math and reading skills

2. Basic principles of Electricity

3. Operation of basic shop tools & equipment (drill press, saws, lathes, testing

equipment)

4. Basic PC and MS Office, Google Apps and Trend/TWL competency.

5. Able to meet technical expertise levels as follows:

● Understand basic Fluid Power Theory

● Understand how components work and their function in the system

● Read parts drawings to convert or specify assembly parts

● Read engineering drawing and dimensional specifications


C. Physical Requirements

1. Ability to stand at a workbench, lathe, grinder, or test equipment for unspecified

time (often)

2. Ability to walk over an extended distance carrying material or equipment

(often).

3. Ability to move/slide and/or lift material up to a weight of 30 pounds (often).

4. Ability to sit at a table executing assembly or computer work for unspecified

time (often).

5. Ability to bend down for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally).

6. Ability to crawl for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally).

7. General flexibility for a variety of different assembly work within a

manufacturing environment, including operating different machinery, power

tools and hand tools.
