Peer Support Specialist (Contract)
Scope and Responsibilities:
The Contract Peer Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for individuals in recovery. This position is responsible for providing peer-led support and operational assistance at LiveDifferent Recovery community events and gatherings. This role requires lived recovery experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to serving others with empathy, integrity, and respect.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Event Support: Assist with the setup, teardown, and cleanup of all LiveDifferent Recovery community gatherings and events, ensuring welcoming, safe, and organized spaces.
- Group Facilitation: Lead and co-facilitate peer support groups, promoting open dialogue, encouragement, and mutual aid among participants.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely DAP notes and client information in the Ritten system in alignment with program standards and confidentiality guidelines.
- Client Advocacy: Serve as a positive role model and advocate, connecting clients to relevant supports such as CrossPurpose career training, recovery coaching, and counseling services.
- Team Support: Participate in a rotation of community roles, including mic running, check-in, group leadership, and post-event clean-up, while supporting any additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Peer credential required, CPFS (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year sobriety
- Minimum 1 year of group facilitation experience
- Committed to sobriety, personal recovery/wellness program, and helping others sustain their recovery journey
- Reliable, able to commit to LiveDifferent Group Schedule
- Team player
- Collaborative, self-starter
- Coachable
Hours: 5 hours/week
- Fridays 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm at 3050 Richard Allen Court
- Additional hours may be available during peak seasons or special events requiring extra support.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $25–$30, based on experience (DOE)
- Potential for Performance and Tenure Bonuses
- Free childcare and dinner are provided during Friday night shifts
- Access to ongoing education and professional development, paid re-certification fees after 6 months of continuous partnership
- All expenses covered (lodging, meals, transportation) for the annual Rural Peer Recovery Conference
- Peer and clinical supervision provided
