Job Overview :

As a Carrier Sales Manager, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for driving operational excellence, fostering talent development, and overseeing carrier sales operations. Your leadership will shape the success of the Carrier Sales team by executing process improvements, aligning teams to meet performance objectives, and strategically managing relationships within the carrier network. You will work closely with leadership to identify growth opportunities, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure a positive, productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Oversight :

  • Lead a team of Carrier Sales Reps. ensuring performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and set clear monthly and quarterly goals for load booking, profitability, service levels, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular coaching and actionable feedback to team members through 1-on-1 meetings and performance reviews.
  • Create a data driven culture used to inform on productivity, profitability, and excellent customer outcomes.

Strategic Development :

  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement strategic initiatives for department growth and operational optimization.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Talent & Team Management :

  • Mentor and develop your team, addressing skill gaps and facilitating training or hiring strategies to enhance capabilities.
  • Promote professional growth and build a high-performance team by providing guidance and support.
  • Market Expertise & Operations :

  • Monitor market trends, analyzing capacity demand and carrier performance to guide your team in carrier selection, negotiation strategies, and pricing.
  • Lead efforts to refine operational processes and leverage technology, including TMS platforms, to improve performance and ensure the highest levels of service.
  • Collaboration & Communication :

  • Act as the liaison between the Carrier Sales team, Account Management, Sales Team and other internal stakeholders to align strategies and achieve shared goals.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, internal teams, andto ensure clear expectations and resolutions are met.
  • Process Improvement :

  • Oversee and continuously improve the carrier sourcing, freight tendering, and onboarding processes.
  • Identify areas for optimization, managing constant improvement and operational excellence across the team.
  • Travel :

  • Travel occasionally to provide team support and attend leadership meetings.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience : 5–7 years of freight industry / brokerage experience, with at least 3 years in a people management role, demonstrating a strong track record of success.
  • Performance Metrics : Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding performance goals in areas such as load booking, profitability, and service levels.
  • Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to interpret data for informed decision-making.
  • Technology Proficiency : Expertise in Microsoft Office, including Excel skills, and familiarity with analytics tools.
  • Negotiation & Conflict Resolution : Strong negotiation skills and experience in resolving conflicts efficiently.
  • Multi-tasking & Pressure Management : Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Market Insight : In-depth knowledge of freight industry trends, capacity demand, and competitive pricing dynamics.
