Position Title: Tax Accountant – Transactional Tax (P1)

Role
Areas of involvement include sales, use, telecommunication, and similar transactional taxes or regulatory fees and surcharges. This includes interpreting and applying the laws of all fifty states, Puerto Rico and Canada as well as various counties and municipalities to the multiple companies and various entity types owned by CCIC. Position will work closely with the Manager, Sr. Tax Accountants, and other Tax Accountants to ensure Crown’s transactional tax compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare or assist outside consultant in the completion of the sales, use and telecommunication tax returns.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly transactional tax billing reports, general ledger account reconciliations and tax compliance data files.
- Responsible for setup and routine maintenance of transactional tax software.
- Setup, administration and filing of electronically filed sales and use tax returns.
- Respond to sales and use tax notices.
- Administer sales tax exemption certificates
- Respond to routine transaction tax questions from other departments and outside parties.
- Assist the Manager – Transactional Tax in collection of information necessary for audit defense.
- Assist with other duties and projects related to sales and use taxes as needed.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- One (1) to four (4) or more years of accounting, tax, or equivalent work experience
- Transaction tax experience preferred, but not required
Expectations
- Working knowledge of Vertex, Avalara, or similar sales tax software application
- Working knowledge with accounting systems and software
- Ability to work with people in an office environment
- Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with vendors, customers and internal departments
- Personal computer skills and application knowledge, especially Microsoft Excel and Word

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 60% of the time (3 days per week) and where you do your best work 40% (2 days per week). There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
