Job Description for Controller

The Controller plays a pivotal role in the financial health and integrity of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and possesses excellent leadership skills.

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
• Develop and manage the annual budget process.
• Provide variance analysis and identify opportunities to optimize financial performance.
• Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee the preparation of tax filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing findings and implementing recommendations.
• Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of finance and accounting professionals.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to provide financial insights and drive strategic initiatives.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization.
• Oversee the implementation and management of financial software and systems.
• Continuously assess and improve accounting policies and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications for the Controller:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred). At least seven years of experience in the accounting field required, and public accounting experience is preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in financial management, with 5 years in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
