The Estimator will report to the Senior Estimator and/or Chief Estimator and will be responsible for preparing accurate quantified take-offs for estimates and supporting Sr. estimators in pricing efforts for assigned projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Visit job sites for obtaining information to accurately define the scope of work
- Schedule review meetings with internal resources as required to ensure that estimates are completed on time
- Prepare and transmit requests for quotation to vendors and specialty contractors
- Prepare RFI’s for review with Sr. Estimator or Chief Estimator before submission to responsible parties
- Prepare clarification and assumption documents
- Prepare scope letters and complete RFP documents for final review
- Compile and organize vendor quotations for final review
- Complete branch take-off visually for review
- Participate in coordinating anticipated general conditions and other miscellaneous costs
- Perform accurate and detailed quantity take-offs on assigned projects
- Coordinate and/or assemble final bid price
- Prepare and transmit proposal letter after review
- Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings as required
- Utilize established estimating processes
- Track data (i.e. sq. ft. $$’s, Hours etc.)
- Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented
- Review and advise leaders of constructability issues
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERTISE:
- Familiar with reading and understanding drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of building construction methods, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
- Ability to complete a take-off from engineered electrical drawings
- Ability to recognize and communicate discrepancies between bid documents
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project)
- 3 years of relevant experience
