What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Processing Specialist position at CSEA?
CSEA is currently seeking a Data Process Specialist to join our Information Technology team!
Under the direction of the Manager-Computer Operations, the incumbent is responsible for schedules, production job streams, validation and distribution work, and data control.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Under the general direction of the Manager-Computer Operations, the incumbent:
1. Develops and maintains schedules for recurring production.
2. Day-to-day coordination of production job streams, adjusting to departures from schedules,
emergency and unanticipated workloads.
3. Day-to-day coordination of the validation and distribution of production work to various user departments, separating/decollating of reports, maintaining control figures where required for validation procedures, taking necessary steps for getting corrections made, scheduling re-runs of production jobs if necessary, appropriate binding of reports, maintaining of microfilm work stations with respect to microfilm.
4. Data control, including scheduling, logging and validation of job data, input and output quality control, establishing schedules for delivery and pick-up of data to outside payroll sources and locations, ensuring timely receipt of machine readable information from outside sources.
5. Assists helpdesk with level 1 support and troubleshooting.
6. Applies understanding of Windows operating system, MS Office and basic computer networking in execution of assignments.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Communication with user departments on scheduling requirements, job status, production problems and the like.
2. Equipment operation, including communication control equipment, controllers, terminals and related equipment; decollating equipment; and the set-up, operation and control of related data processing equipment.
3. Production support, which includes: maintenance of the tape library, classifies and catalogs reels of tapes in accordance with such factors as content of data and type of routing, issues reels and maintains charge out records, inspects reels to determine if tapes need replacing due to wear or damage; maintenance of an operating documentation library; preparation of periodic reports
regarding schedules, operations performance, production problems, user department distribution analysis, etc.; maintains related data processing supplies and inventories including forms, tapes disks, etc.; responsible for the security of machine readable information and
physical security of data processing department reports in general (confidentiality of data); ensures availability of courier services and arrangements.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
Starting salary for this postion is $46,747 annually.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate Degree from a recognized institution with specialization in data processing.
AND
At least one year of experience in the operations department of a computer center in a computer
operations related job title.
OR
A satisfactory combination of the foregoing education and experience.
