Job Description:
SUMMARY
The Maintenance Worker II - Housing reports directly to the Director of Facilities Maintenance and is responsible for providing professional maintenance tasks and services, including grounds keeping of Tribal Government properties, facilities, Tribal Housing, and rental properties.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform carpentry duties such as install and maintain roofs, siding, flooring, windows, shelves, cabinets and appropriate hardware using power and hand tools.
- Paint, plaster, and maintain finished surface indoors and outdoors for all tribally owned buildings including rental properties, and tribal housing.
- Perform electrical duties such as troubleshoot, maintain, and repair existing electrical fixtures and equipment including the replacement of fuses, lamps, bulbs, and ballasts.
- Inspect, test, repair and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, and general maintenance equipment.
- Provide information to Director of Facilities Maintenance and Lead Maintenance Workers for contracting and supply quotes, maintenance project prioritization, and schedules.
- Work with Facilities Maintenance team to keep Tribal Property grounds groomed appropriately including mowing, weed whacking, brush cutting, insecticide and weed spraying.
- Perform general scheduled maintenance tasks such as clean Tribal property windows (inside and outside), check lights and light bulb replacement and periodic collection and disposal of garbage.
- Provide assistance in moving furniture and/or heavy equipment as needed for all facilities.
- Assist with cutting, splitting, stacking, and distribution of firewood for the Tribal elders and members as needed.
- Communicate in a professional manner with Tribal Members and fellow employees.
- Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCULSI policies.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Other duties as directed by management.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY & RESTRICTIONS
- No supervisory authority or oversight.
WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT
- Exposed to wide variety of weather conditions.
- Exposed to dust, and chemicals.
- Moderate noise level with frequent distractions and interruptions.
HOURS
- 40 hours per week.
- Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with possible occasional evening and weekend work.
