Description
Documents and properly shields patients to reduce radiation exposure.
Performs only NON IV CONTRASTED radiographic examinations and properly positions and instructs patients to obtain acceptable diagnostic imags for interpretation.
Assists Radiologist as needed with fluoroscopy and sterile procedures
Performs mobile and surgical Radiology procedures safely and accurately
Protects self and others from undue radiation exposure.
Verifies correct images are in place for interpretations and tracks in computer system to complete exam.
Transports patients to radiology and properly communicates with nursing staff for patient hand off communication.
Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Keeps items necessary for performance of job well stocked. Notifying Director when supplies need to be ordered
Keeps the director informed of any unusual concern, situation, or condition relative to staff, patients, or physicians. Makes suggestions of ways to improve operating methods and procedures
Assists Registered Technologists with venipuncture, IV patency and IV maintenance according to established guidelines as requested. Assists Registered Technologist to prepare contrast media according to established guidelines as requested

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and be in good standing. Must have completed first year and of Radiology program and currently working on second year of program. Must acquire registry within one year of program completion.
Experience:
Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with patients, patients’ families, visitors, salesmen, and general public knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiology equipment normally acquired through completion of a two year post high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology.
Additional Skills / Abilities:
Communication skills, some computer skills task orientated, organized Familiar with the operation all x-ray equipment, and computers.Interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physician and/or emotional stress to gather and exchange patient information with nursing personal and physicians.
Analytical skills necessary to determine method of providing radiographs based on the specifics of individual case, utilization knowledge of techniques, and provide technical advice for other hospital employees. Must work under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
