Maintenance Assistant - Facilities

Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant will perform advanced maintenance repairs and construction renovation.

Position Information:

Position Code: MA3024

DBM Grade:B21

Current County Employees will follow the County Promotion/Demotion Policy.

Responsibilities

• Equipment operation: Operates back hoe, front end loader, tractors, and various grounds equipment.
• Construction: Remodels and renovates areas by installing drywall, floor tile. Baseboards, and carpet. Builds/assembles cabinets, bookshelves and work stations. Acts as liaison with outside contractors and explains the nature of the job request.
• Trade work: Makes plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning repairs as needed. Installs and assists with installation of equipment.
• Grounds Work: Draws up landscape designs, Installs stone and pavers, plants, trims, mows, mulches. Assists with snow removal including plowing.
• Concrete work – builds forms, pours and levels cement/concrete.
• Assists Director and Maintenance Supervisor with work assignments as necessary.
• Places orders and acquires materials for jobs.
• Performs other job related duties as required.
• Ability to work with inmates as required.
• Team Leadership provided on job site.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

• High school diploma plus trade school training in carpentry/construction or equivalent.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 2-4 years’ working experience in maintenance/construction environment.
