Cumberland Mutual is seeking a Lead IT Analyst to join our Programing Team. This position will operate out of the Ontario, Ohio office. Cumberland Mutual offers flexibility in promoting a hybrid work schedule consisting of physically reporting to the Ohio office two (2) days per week and working remotely from home the remaining three (3) days. A full remote schedule may be considered.
This role will be a member of the core Duck Creek Policy group whose primary responsibility is to develop, maintain, code, and support screens, edits, rating, printing as well as performing data fixes.
This IT Applications Group position is responsible for Duck Creek Policy application analysis, design, requirements assistance, development, code review, support, documentation, and testing of program logic. Members of the team stay current with Duck Creek technology and work equally well independently or as a part of a team. It includes researching, designing and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Code, test, debug, document and install modified and new programs
- Unit test using all provided test cases to ensure coding meets all requirements
- Analyze business requirements and test cases to ensure they are complete
- Translate business needs and requirements into applications changes
- Use coding methods for specific programming language(s) to enhance or initiate efficient program execution and performance and to reach optimum hardware utilization
- Monitor production programs for expected performance and respond to errors and emergency problems
- Work within specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner
- Take independent action to correct problems encountered during systems operations within authority level granted
- Maintain integrity of program logic and coding, and establish required checks and balances for operational controls
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer operating procedures and operating standards
- Ability to apply P&C Insurance knowledge
- Communicate additional test cases needed based on logic changes to be used in both unit testing and system testing
- Recommend solutions based on business requirements and system design
- Work well under pressure and can work independently or as part of a team
- Mentor and train other developers
- Review new development with developers
- Perform code reviews as necessary
- Oversee vendor development approach and implementation to ensure business needs are met
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Extensive knowledge with designing and developing Manuscript hierarchies for Duck Creek
- Experience with XML and related technologies such as XSLT, XQuery, XPath
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with SVN (Subversion) a plus
- Experience with JavaScript and CSS/Skins a plus
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to think logically for interpreting and analyzing problems assigned or encountered
- Ability to review information and develop and evaluate options for solutions taking into account costs and benefits

Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of data processing system design methods, techniques and standards
- At least five years experience as a developer, including at least two years performing analyst duties
- Property and Casualty insurance experience strongly preferred
