JOB DESCRIPTION

Assistant Teacher

Purpose:

1. To assist the director and the lead teacher in the ongoing activities of the preschool.

2. To serve as an assistant teacher and provide a warm, nurturing, safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment in which children can grow spiritually, physically, academically, emotionally, and socially.

Qualifications:

1. Must be a Christian and actively involved in a local evangelical Christian church

2. Must have a sincere love for children and a desire to teach them

3. High School diploma

4. Experience in preschool education or in preschool/children’s ministry

5. Teacher must agree with the philosophy and objectives of CBC preschool.

6. It must be clear in the teacher’s demeanor, speech, and attitude that he/she is a Christ follower, mature decision maker, and sensitive to the needs of children and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Hours are 8:30 to 1:00 while school is in session. Teacher is also required to attend all pre and post planning activities, as well as special events.

2. Help provide and maintain a Christ-like environment where children can grow spiritually, physically, academically, emotionally, and socially.

3. Give each child adequate attention.

4. Assist the lead teacher in tasks as requested.

5. Assists the lead teacher in supervision and management of children.

6. Assists the lead teacher in planning and implementing learning activities.

7. Attend all staff and parent meetings.

8. Attend required workshops, classes, and training opportunities.

9. Maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment. This requires daily cleaning of the classroom after the school day is complete.

10. Assist as needed in the morning and afternoon carpool.

11. Assist the director as needed.

12. Follow all policies as stated in the staff handbook.

13. In addition to working as an assistant teacher, be available and prepared to help as needed in the preschool area when requested by the director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.75 per hour
