Overview
The Principal Systems Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The successful candidate will actively support an Agile MBSE Effort for advanced weapons in a Digital Environment using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). The Principal Systems Engineer will be part of a high visibility program assisting in the creation of SysML models for US Air Force programs. This effort is mostly model-centric; and we are looking for a modeler with advanced skills in SysML language and Cameo Enterprise Architecture, or similar tools. The successful candidate will be assisting in the planning of MBSE tasks and will be acting as the lead modeler working hands on in the modeling tool and ensuring that MBSE best practices are followed. The successful candidate will be communicating with customer in agile meetings. Occasional travel to customer and contractor sites for technical and programmatic meetings is required.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation of SysML models (structural and behavioral) using MBSE for DOD weapon programs
- Peer-review models (e.g., validation of SysML rules, review technical content)
- Participate in the creation of plans for recommendations of Agile best practices
- Contribute to the creation of a Digital Environment (perform analysis of multiple tools and recommend digital tools as part of the digital tool chain)
- Present models to Customer/Management in Agile Sprint Review sessions
- Coach Junior modelers (e.g., pair modeling activities, working group sessions)
- Assist in the creation of a backlog of tasks to meet required deliverables
- Assist in the tailoring of processes to meet Customer needs in a timely fashion.
- Apply Systems Engineering analyses (e.g., use cases, requirements maturation)
- Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the day-to-day performance of duties
- Support program meetings and technical reviews with internal and external customers
Skills and Competencies
- BS degree in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree required
- 15 to 20 years of engineering experience in Systems Engineering or related disciplines; experience on DoD programs desired
- Advanced level experience with SysML Language
- Advanced level experience with MBSE Methodology
- Advanced level experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture or similar tools (e.g., MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler)
- Experience performing systems engineering requirements analysis
- Familiarity with Acquisition Frameworks, and the lifecycle of a program
- Familiarity with cost analysis and estimates and Systems Engineering Documentation
- Familiarity with Jira tool, Agile philosophy, DoDAF, and metamodels
- Ability to work in a dynamic customer-site team environment, representing the company in a professional manner
- Ability to work well with a technically diverse team
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and design implementations
- Ability to organize work and deliver on time work products
