The Manager ofAccounting is a member of the Accounting and Finance team working with the accounting systems to complete general accounting responsibilities. This position will be responsible for managing a small finance team while still being actively involved for the monthly close cycle, account reconciliation preparations and reviews, general ledger entries and researching / explaining variances. This role will work closely with the accounting director to oversee the general ledger, balance sheet and financial statements, as well as play a large role in financial audits.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
- Ability to manage financial functions, including accounts payable, cost accounting and general ledger
- Experience and knowledge of Corporate Accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting
- Meet with plant operations to present and explain the departments financial performance
- Review account reconciliations and provide guidance to team on variances
- Coordinate annual audits with external auditors under GAAP and IFRS
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports; conduct informal performance reviews
- Continuously identify opportunities with the ERP to improve reporting efficiencies and cost savings
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, and procedures
- Partner with IT to streamline and automate processes
- Complete special projects, run ad hoc reports, and conduct analysis on various initiatives as needed
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7 or more years of accounting experience including financial analysis, with 2or more yearsin a management role
- Masters in Accounting and/or Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Experience managing a small team
- Microsoft Office Suite: specifically, Excel; experience with complex formulas
- Experience with Oracle HFM and Infor XA a plus
- Experience with IFRS a plus
Working Conditions:
- This position will work in typical office conditions with extensive time using personal computer equipment.
- The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time other departments have to complete the information, overtime is sometimes required.
