THIS ROLE:
The Senior Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. Responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, research, and resolve reconciling items promptly, and ensure that adequate supporting documentation is maintained
- Help maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP
- Respond to information requests and assist with the annual financial statement audit - including project management related aspects of the audit
- Analyze financial statements and GL accounts to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual fluctuations are in line with expectations and documented
- Prepare operational and ad hoc reporting for additional analysis associated with financial statement areas assigned
- Assist leadership as needed
- Take ownership of preparing financial statement areas assigned to you
- Establish strong working relationships cross functionally
- Participate in the research of accounting treatment for transactions or new contracts and new accounting pronouncements and documentation of conclusions for management review
- Identify and implement operational improvements and research technical issues relating to US GAAP
- Creating financial statements for upper management
- Implement and maintain financial internal controls and policies
- Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records
- Provide ad-hoc financial reports and metrics as needed
- Maintain strict levels of confidentiality and discretion
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA highly preferred, but not required
- 3-5 years of experience in relevant accounting roles including as a Senior Accountant, with a mix of public and private experience preferred
- Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
- High proficiency with MS Office, including advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
